This specification establishes the properties and requirements for propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate (PMA). The specimens shall be adequately sampled and undergo gas chromatographic chemical analysis, and shall adhere accordingly to chemical property requirements as to purity, color (platinum-cobalt scale), water content, distillation range (initial and dry boiling points), acidity (free acid as acetic acid), and glycol ether content.1.1 This specification covers propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate (PMA).Note 1—Propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate (PMA) is a mixture of 1-methoxy-2-acetoxypropane and 2-methoxy-1-acetoxypropane.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard.
