This specification establishes the properties and requirements for sec-butyl alcohol for use in paint, varnish, lacquer, and related products. Specimens shall be sampled and tested as appropriate, and shall adhere to the following requirements: apparent specific gravity; color (Pt-Co scale); distillation range (initial boiling point and dry point); nonvolatile matter; water; and acidity as acetic acid.1.1 This specification covers sec-butyl alcohol for use in paint, varnish, lacquer, and related products.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard.
